What a pain in the neck! No web host would admit to owning my former domain, mad-angel.com, so I have had to acquire a new one. Welcome to madangel47.com.
I will be in the process of updating this site for awhile. I didn't realize there was quite so much stuff in the archives! Apparently, I am far more prolifc than I ever realized.
I'm still trying to sort out the best possible venues in which to publish my work -- or maybe I should say, attempt to publish my work? Sad to say, I'm stalled out at writing a cover/query letter. One reads all sorts of terrifying stuff about the cover/query letter being the quintessential thing that makes the difference between having an editor read you, and lanidng in the slush pile for ever and ever, amen. So, I am, quite unsurprisingly, terrified by the very thought of having to compose such a document. When I manage to do that, I'll begin sending stuff out.
Just this week, I did take a small plunge, and submitted my newest short story, "Down the Hill, How Fast I Would Go," to a major short story contest. I have already struck out three times over the years with this particular contest, but you can't win if you don't play, and the entry fee was affordable. By the end of May, I should know how I fared. If I do win, I'll be shouting the news here, from the proverbial rooftop.
This website exists primarily to offer a taste of my work. If you like it and feel inclined to take the time to say something about it, great! If you like it well enough to purchase one of my published books, that's great, too! I'll be happy to dialogue a bit with you if you will sign my guestbook and leave an e-mail link. But the most important thing is that you enjoy what you read, and take away some lesson from it that you can implement somehow, in a positive way, in your own life journeys. Most of my work does seem to be about people working through their struggles, and overcoming obstacles, and hopefully coming out stronger and wiser on the other side when all's said and done. Seems like that's what life is all about anyway, right?
So, here's what I hope will be a small, steady light in the darkness.
Thank you for reading.
